10 Ways to spoil yourself this Valentines Day

10 Ways to spoil yourself this Valentines Day

Monday 8th February 2010

Once again Valentines Day is nearly upon us and brings with it all the fuss and expectations of chocolates, flowers and romantic gestures.

You might be looking forward to the opportunity to tell your special someone how much you care about them or maybe you're completely dreading the whole day. Either way it is important that we try to appreciate the true meaning of Valentines Day which is often lost in the over commercialisation and expectation of cards and gifts.

Probably the important aspect of Valentines Day is allowing each of us to show those we love how much we care about them. It also provides us with an opportunity to appreciate what we have in our lives and to be grateful for that rather than concentrating on what we don't have.

So whether you are single, married or dating here are some great ways to spoil yourself for Valentines Day:

  1. Invite your girlfriends round for a pamper evening. Watch a girly movie, get the face packs out and drink some cocktails to celebrate.

  2. Get your closest friends and/or partner together and write down 5 things that you like about each other and keep this list on the fridge or somewhere where you will read it everyday to remind you how wonderful you really are.

  3. Send thank you cards instead of valentine's cards to the people who are important to you. This is a great opportunity to tell them why they are important to you and how much you value their friendship.

  4. Indulge yourself by booking your favourite treatment at you local beauticians. Remember, it's the pampering that is important not how much you spend.

  5. Do something for the first time; this could be anything from salsa dancing to painting to bungee jumping. Trying new activities is a great way to stretch yourself and spend time doing something different with friends or your partner.

  6. Make a 2010 wish list. This is a good way to focus on what you want to achieve over the next month, 6 months, and year.

  7. Get outside. Yes it is normally cold in February but being outside and getting some exercise is a great way to make you feel better.

  8. Think of others by volunteering. There are lots of all the worthy causes you could give your time too or why not donate the money you might have spent on a card to your favourite charity!

  9. Use the money you would have spent on a meal out to buy something new for yourself. Whether it is a pair of shoes, make-up, clothes or something new for your bedroom - treat yourself. You deserve it!

  10. Finally, you can always join the Ladies Night Out Club!.
