This is a wonderful place with a lovely atmosphere. The restaurant has an intimate, cosy feel, which comes from the dimmed lighting and the wooden beams so it is perfect for romantic meals for two whilst also managing to make groups feel welcome. The decorations are understated and elegant, (apart from the booth on the first floor, which has panels representing slightly rude French cabaret dancers!)
Each table starts off with a basket of delicious baguette slices and some French butter and there is a small selection of apéritifs, including Kir and Kir Royal.
The food is always of the highest quality: locally produced, where possible, free-range and seasonal and is cooked perfectly, each dish showing the French people's flair for food combinations. The menu changes monthly. The meals are a good size, with a large amount of a good selection of vegetables on a separate plate to be shared by the table. The desserts are divine and I personally recommend the Crème Brulée, which I have always managed to eat no matter how full I am!
This is my favourite restaurant in Derby as I know that I will always enjoy my meal and my evening there.
