Fresh Ground is a great café/bistro, located opposite the Ritz cinema in Belper. The menu is created using local produce and offers everything from sandwiches to light bites and twilight suppers.
They always have an excellent range of cakes and the home-made ice cream is fantastic as well as the hot chocolate. If you are keen on your wine or beer they have a wide range and offer with some really unusual Belgian beers.

This is a lovely little place on the Belper high street, with comfy sofas and outdoor seating as well as plenty of table seating.
The meals were a good size and looked absolutely delicious. The coffee is wonderful but absolutely eclipsed by the italian hot chocolate. Thick, chocolatey without being too sweet, this was as substantial as chocolate sauce. They also have a good selection of great tasting cakes and scones if you feel like being naughty. I was quite pleased to find that everything was very reasonably priced, too.
