About this Event
Join the girls for a delightful stroll around Belper town with a hot chocolate/coffee and maybe some cake or buy some artisan chocolates in I Should Cocoa at the end.
On this walk you will learn about the history of the town and its historic mills built by the Strutt family and the north mill is one of the most significant elements of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. We will also be walking through the wonderful River Gardens which were created and given to the town by George Herbert Strutt in 1906. There are many features of the town that make it an interesting place to spend an afternoon.

I had a lovely day with all of the ladies and even though the weather was bad it was nice to get out. I actually felt quite nervous about doing the talk about Belper but hopefully that didn't come across. In the end we went to the Black Swan rather than I Should Cocoa and the staff were very helpful even though there were 12 of us for drinks and lunch. Looking forward to the walk in Matlock now.

It was lovely to get out into the fresh air today, despite the rain! There were so many of us too and it was great to meet some of the newer people and to catch up with people I hadn't seen in a while (hi Rachael and Gay!).
Tara had really done her research for this walk; Belper is such an interesting place and Tara showed us some places I didn't even know existed.
A lovely walk in all.

Really enjoyed the walk and meeting old and new people as well. Really interesting hearing all about Belper and Tara was very knowledgeable and took us to some really interesting places that you wouldnt realise would be in the back streets of Belper.
Rain didnt damper the spirit and such a lovely way to spend the afternoon

The weather wasn't really on our side, but we still had a lovely walk with added info! It was a shame about I Should Cocoa not having space for all of us (but not very surprising!!), but the Black Swan was lovely, and I'll definitely be going back there -- the food looked so good!

I attended the stroll around Belper and thoroughly enjoyed it. All the ladies were nice and friendly and even though I have lived in Belper all my life, there were some places we went that I hadnt been to before!! We went to The Black Swan for lunch (great food) which was a really nice way to end the day. Would definitely go on one of these events again. Shame about the weather tho.

Prior to this event, I'd never been to Belper before in my life, despite having spent years and years living in Derbyshire! I found the walk and talk to be really interesting and informative, and it was a nice way to spend the afternoon even though the weather wasn't particularly great!
