The Pudding Club in Belper
Monday, 18 July 2011 | Submitted by Tara
Wow what a decadent evening we had at the Pudding Club at the Lion Hotel in Belper it was great to share an evening of eating desserts with the other members.
So what is a pudding club? Well at a pudding club you have courses of puddings instead of the traditional starter, main and dessert. Having never been to a pudding club before but knowing how the concept works I was really looking forward to trying the five puddings on offer.
The five puddings on offer were:
Poached peaches, coconut sorbet and grapefruit jus
Tonika bean pannacotta, pear and basil salsa
Lemon sabayon pot, berry granola and mascarpone
Knickerbocker glory
Toblerone parfait
I enjoyed all of the puddings but I particularly liked the Poached peaches, coconut sorbet and grapefruit jus and the Lemon sabayon pot, berry granola and mascarpone. Luckily after five desserts I didn't feel to stuffed but I was glad I hadn't eaten too much during the day.
Take a look at the photos of the puddings below:

At the end of the event a photographer from the Derbyshire Evening Telegraph took some photos of Penny (a member) and I for the paper, so keep an eye this week as you may see us in article all about the event.
The Lion Hotel in Belper are hoping to run another pudding club in November and also have a number of events throughout the year, including a pie night which we will be attending in October.
