Come Dine with Me – week 2
Wednesday, 17 November 2010 | Submitted by Tara
The Come Dine with Me this week was at Maria’s house. She lives in Oakwood with her boxer dog Fred who gave me a very enthusiastic greeting when I got there. I was the first one there so I think that Fred probably got rid of most of his excitement and by the time Dawn arrived he definitely wasn’t as bothered about running about and saying hello.
Maria was a good host and I was offered a drink as soon as I sat down and I was the only one that went for the sparkly rose on offer.
The starter was a lovely English Onion Soup with sage and cheddar served with some crusty bread which I managed to finish in no time and was very welcome on a cold evening. After we all polished off the soup Maria served us baked garlic and leek salmon with potatoes, asparagus and other vegetables. The Salmon was topped with mushrooms and onions and was very well cooked.
For dessert we had individual lime cheesecakes which were just enough to finish off a very relaxed and pleasant meal. Having cooked last week it was so nice to sit back and enjoy someone else’s cooking.
I even got to know Maria a little bit more as I found some canvases that she had started to paint and a few paintings she had done around the house. All of them were very creative and it was good to find out something that I didn’t know.
So next week we will all be at Gays house in Spondon. Find out how it went on the blog next week.
