A Fantastic Start to the New Year

It’s been a great start to 2009 for the Ladies Night Out Club. January was one of our busiest months so far with numerous events being highly successful. It gives me great pleasure to see the increased number of women regularly attending our events and hopefully this can only help increase our membership - a girl can never have too many friends!
We’ve started our regular fortnightly walks again kicking off with a walk around the grounds at Kedleston Hall on Sunday 11th January.
The walk was quite short at only 3 ¼ miles but proved a great way for us all to get back into the swing of things after the Christmas lull. As a bonus the restaurant at the Hall was open so we treated ourselves to tea/hot chocolate and cake which helped keep us warm on the crisp winter’s day.
The second walk of January was around Milton and Foremark which offered some lovely picturesque landscapes to admire as we made our way towards Foreman reservoir. Luckily the rain stayed away whilst the sun temporarily appeared for one of our photos.
I was especially pleased with the success of the I Should Cocoa coffee shop event. This exquisite coffee shop located in Belper offers artisan chocolates (made on site), home-made cupcakes, lunchtime fresh bagels, scrumptious sandwiches and fresh coffee.
I sampled a cup of their delicious hot chocolate and whilst on the way out naughtily treated myself to four of their sublime chocolates. All of the ladies attending the event offered some great feedback afterwards, commented that they loved the coffee shop and appreciated going somewhere a little bit different. So after the success of this event keep an eye out for more visits to different cafés and coffee shops in the upcoming months.

The chosen restaurant for January was Graze located in Friar Gate. I was joined by nine other members of the Ladies Night Out Club and we all tucked into three courses of delicious food.
I would definitely recommend that you pay a visit to Graze as their two courses for £11.95 and three for £13.95 promotion offers great value for money.
Six of the ladies from the club went ten pin bowling. After beating Victoria at Ten Pin on the Wii over Christmas it was great to play the sport for real. Even though I won the first game I discovered I lacked a little stamina so ended up only coming fourth in the second game. I definitely need further practice to improve my endurance.
It was a great night and I’m happy that two our our new members whose first event this was thoroughly enjoyed themselves. TenPin run a two games for the price of one offer on Tuesday nights so if you want to try your hand out at bowling then this is excuse to get out the house. Our Get Active events are geared up just for this so why not join the girls next time we go?
To make a night of it we popped into Pizza Hut beforehand as they run a starter and a main course promotion for £6.99. So not only was it a great night out but it was a cheap one too.
For February we have a number of exciting events coming up including:
- Hurly Burly at Deda (a Burlesque show) and Cirque de Glace at the Assembly Rooms.
- The book club where we will be reviewing “The five people you meet in heaven”.
- We will also be watching “He’s not that into you” and “Confessions of a Shopaholic” at the cinema.
- The restaurant that we will be visiting in February will be The Risley Park in South Derbyshire which is part of a local chain of restaurants including the Bulls Head at Denby.
